Many of the knots you know are just a step away from becoming something entirely different. Here I show how a close an overhand knot is to a barrel sling, marlin spike hitch, or bowline. A girth hitch becomes a filter wrench or flower bracelet. A slip knot is a twist away from a scaffold hitch or daisy chain. Hopefully with a little insight, you’ll find new knots to use.
